Wellness Policies
Bright from the Start: Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning received a grant from the United State Department of Agriculture (USDA) to launch a pilot nutrition project targeted in southwest Georgia. Through the “Caregivers Promoting Healthy Habits: Implementing Wellness Policies in Child Care Centers in Georgia,” Bright from the Start provided 24 early care and education centers in 14 southwest Georgia counties assistance in developing and implementing wellness policies that encourage healthy eating and physical activity for preschool-age children.
Although the project targeted southwest Georgia counties, we encourage early care and education centers throughout the state of Georgia to implement the wellness policies in their institution to meet the goal of increasing healthy and physical activity habits in our state’s preschool-age children.
